Sean Morris is a Melbourne-based artist and illustrator, seamlessly traverses from the macabre to the banal in his character-driven scenery artwork, infusing it with an unexpected lightness.
Sean created this piece for our New York Erotic Art Fair in October 2023. It was inspired by a scene from ‘Laure’, a 1976 Italian/French soft erotic movie released in the West as ‘Forever Emmanuelle’.
"It's a vague, strange film but I thought this scene was beautifully weird and hot. A late night meeting behind glass, which takes place between two characters at a scientific retreat in the Phillipines. It features French/Thai actress Emmanuelle Arsan, who also authored the original 'Emmanuelle' book, which spawned a dozen erotic films under that name (although it turned out later her husband wrote the book, or maybe they wrote it together?) The 70s were a confusing time in the erotic arts. But I’m glad they produced imagery like this."
This would look great as a wall hanging. The weaving is very sturdy, so it's also perfect for real-life use - on a bed, on a couch, wrapped around your shoulders as you walk through a forest at night.
