Sean Morris is a Melbourne-based artist and illustrator, seamlessly traverses from the macabre to the banal in his character-driven scenery artwork, infusing it with an unexpected lightness.
"I made this artwork for the New York Erotic Art Fair in October 2023. It was inspired by a photo in a 1978 Italian smut mag - 'Justine De Sade #1' - which I bought a few years ago in a flea market in Rome. The title comes from a line in the story which accompanied the photoshoot - “Regina della serata” (Queen of the evening.) I love this blanket. It's pretty bold, but life's too short for boring throw rugs."
This would look great as a wall hanging. The weaving is very sturdy, so it's also perfect for real-life use - on a bed, on a couch, wrapped around your shoulders as you walk through a forest at night.
