Sonia Rose is a ceramics and metals artist living in Atlanta GA. Having spent much of her childhood living and traveling abroad, with parents who loved archeology and museums, she finds inspiration from ancient artifacts and figurative idols. She became interested in the body neutrality movement in college while reflecting on the normalization of negative self-talk from female role models and peers. Her current ceramic work highlights body parts which she and many people might have strong options or shame about, mostly breasts and genitalia. She objectifies these body parts and creates common household ceramic wares featuring them. She hopes to normalize and neutralize emotions about them while creating simple, humorous and practical work which celebrates the diversity of the human form.
