Ellis Jaz is a knitwear designer and photographer living and working in London. Her work operates in the intersection of craft, design and erotica. Ellis Jaz makes clothing that deconstructs the composition of the body, incorporating high stretch knitwear with embroidery like details. She is influenced by an undying love of, and fascination with femme erotica. Working with representations of the body, femininity and desire. Each piece of knitwear is handmade by Ellis Jaz herself on vintage manual knitting machines, with each panel of knitting will take around a day to create, the works are great labours of love.
As is the case with many others working with sexual themes, Ellis has experienced a great deal of censorship, especially in online spaces and social media. "The challenge of promoting and establishing a brand that involves erotic imagery in today’s censored climate is challenging, but loving and honouring human sensuality is always worth it."
